Lubbock Westerners Chase First Title Since 1952
Three state championships sit in the trophy case. The latest one is 71 years old.
Lubbock's last state title came in 1952 when the Westerners won the 4A championship with a 12-7 victory over Baytown Lee. Before that, back-to-back titles in 1951 and 1939 put the program in rare company. That's three state championships total, but none since Eisenhower's first term.
The Westerners open this season looking to end the longest championship drought in program history. Lubbock hasn't won a state title in 71 years.
