Giddings chases first title since 1951
Program's only state championship came 73 years ago with a 25-14 win over Newcastle.
Giddings has one state title in the UIL record books: a 1A championship in 1951, when the team defeated Newcastle 25-14. That remains the program's only trip to the mountaintop.
The long drought means this season carries weight for a program still defined by that single championship run from the Truman era. Giddings will be hunting for the second title in school history.
